And I can really see why…The story of the Chanel Flap Bag starts in February 1955. Chanel had been creating handbags for about 25 years already, however the new bag was different. As a brand Chanel always stood for comfortability, so Coco decided to create a bag that would allow women to keep their hands free while carrying a bag. Before the 50s, women usually carried bags in their hands, this was the first time they could carry their bags on their shoulder. This bag was named the Chanel 2.55, and was named after the date of its creation: 2 for February, and 55 for the year 1955. Military satchels worn in the 1920s, are allegedly some of the inspiration behind the design.
