Rodarte X Other Stories
Rodarte is known for its artistic mixture of high couture, modern femininity, and California influences, created by Kate and Laura Mulleavy. Their imaginative expression comes together in this co-lab collection, revealing unexpected contrasts and carefully chosen qualities. The pair have been in talks with the retailer since it arrived stateside in 2014, working out the best way to bring their magical designs into its many stores. Their collection’s color palette draws from L.A.’s desert landscapes, with hints of inky black and silver crystals to reflect the area’s glittering night sky. Denim jackets come lined in mohair and without to adjust to the California weather, while A-line miniskirts are actually collages of different leathers, the type of thing you might see a girl sporting at Amoeba Music or on a troll through vintage stores in Echo Park.
