Alexander Wang Spring 2017 Collection
For its Spring Summer 2017 collection, Alexander Wang keep on deconstructing wardrobe basics and subverting male and female signifiers. He definitely went into his California roots reinventing bikinis, pareos and flip flops, and mixing it all up by pairing it with tracksuits and delicate slip numbers in neon colors. The designer made it official last night: his new collaboration with Adidas Originals is happening. As showgoers saw at a special finale, he has inverted the familiar trefoil, and the “Originals” logo is upside down as well. “With this collection, the idea was to take the codes and iconography of the Adidas Originals brand and look at what their symbols mean and turn them on their head, to invert what’s on the surface and add a layer of subversion; also to toy with the idea of what’s authentic and what’s fake, and how a certain setting can change perception entirely.” the designer said to Vogue.com.
