The Alexa Chung for AG denim capsule collection launched today. Alexa fell in love with the family-run denim label and its dedicated team after just one visit to AG Jeans HQ. It was already clear from Chung’s amazing personal style that she has a great fashion eye and an impressive attention to detail, and her work with AG Jeans now proves her worth as designer too. The collaboration includes 20 pieces, ranging from vintage overalls to high-wasted jeans and Sixties shift denim dresses to miniskirts, fuses Chung’s inimitable sense of British style with AG’s design expertise and heritage. “The collection is inherently the missing pieces of dream denim wardrobe, which, as ever, is predominantly inspired by a late Sixties, early Seventies aesthetic,” Alexa told. «I imagine, or I hope rather, that I will become a full-time designer». «I choose brands to work with based on whether I get on with the people in charge there, whether it’s a brand that I already like, and how they would define my role in the relationship. So, at this stage if it’s something that I can have full creative control over I am more inclined to do it.» «I pray to Sixties icons such as Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin and Francoise Hardy – and I ask the internet for advice via Googling ‘Jane Birkin’,» she said. «I just wanted to make clothes that I would be really happy wearing. As well as making my dream skinny jeans, I wanted to make vintage-inspired jeans that felt comfortable like modern-day jeans do, taking old-school silhouettes but making sure that the modern technology that we have today would make them wearable.»
