Giambattista Valli Haute Couture SS14 Collection

By  |
Giambattista Valli is a runway veteran, with plenty of his own things to say about layering print and texture. Yesterday it was all about quilted floral white mini dresses that came with bold foil necklaces and glittering blue and green embellishments, glorious colour combinations that put raspberry with cerise and rose, or peach with mint and cream, for tunic dresses that were wrapped in huge blue satin skirts bowed at the front and  bustier dresses with voluminous skirts and contrasting peplum sashes that couldn’t fail to put him in the red carpet frontline. Valli’s fabrics and embellishments tended toward the dense and heavy, the polar opposite of Raf Simons’ work at Dior.
